Scruffy Boot Redo

If you like boots, like me, I wear them as much as I can during the fall and winter.

I bought a cute pair of low booties, and wore them a bit.

I am a frugal lady, and I refuse to get rid of anything I can alter to make better for myself.

Since I’ve lost weight, I have altered jeans and some shirts to fit better until they are to loose to wear. I alter fashion jewelry with paint and nail polish, and these boots are no exception to my rule! So, I decided they were the perfect candidate for a scruffy boot redo.

These boots are comfortable and I love the low cushioned heel to them.

They were beginning to get a little worn looking, and then, I wore them while doing a project.

The white paint look over them wasn’t a good look.

I like brown boots, but I “HEART” black boots.

I have several pair of brown boots, but unfortunately I had to retire a pair last year because the sole came off of them.

So… I was down a pair I loved, and since these were going to need to be fixed,

I decided to revamp them into black boots.

I thought it was going to be hard, but the polish covered up every bit of brown, even on the fringe and the straps!

If you decide to recolor your boots, I think I’d go a dark over a light. Got a pair of white or cream boots that are too scuffed? Transform them into a lovely dark shade!

So easy to do!

Just put down some paper to protect your surface, then add on some rubber gloves so you don’t get any stain on you.

I used Kiwi brand – not a preference – just what I picked up at the store and was available. It is a No-Buff Cream Polish, if you are looking for an easy cover.

I think it took me about 5 minutes each to recolor these boots, and that was even tucking up the color under the fringe and under the straps.

To get into some tighter spots, I used my gloved finger and tucked up into the spaces with a bit of polish on my gloved finger.

Now, I just need to let them dry thoroughly, and they are good to go for my boot wearing days!
